The Life-Giving Spirit
Romans 8:1-2 (HCSB)
Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus,, because the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.
Joshua 1:9 (HCSB)
Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Isaiah 43:1-2 (HCSB)
Now this is what the Lord says — the One who created you, Jacob, and the One who formed you, Israel — “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you.
You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you.”
Psalms 56:3-4 (HCSB)
When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
Note from Kip: This one speaks to me clearly today. This is the morning of my last day on the job with my, ‘for the moment’, current employer.
The exit interview is scheduled for 10AM this morning. There are no interviews that I’m waiting to hear back on the results. There are several resume’s out and one or two, decent prospects for a new job.
But, even though, I should by human standards be very concerned over not just what is transpiring, but what is more importantly ‘not transpiring’ today (at least at this moment in time).
Roughly, 10:20 this morning, I will walk out of this building; unemployed and that is okay. Not because it is what I want, but because it is in God’s hands and I trust him. See it’s when we have trust that our ‘faith’ goes into action.
I’m human, flesh, and as a result I can’t say that I will not feel a flush of panic at some point. Regardless, I know He is with me. More importantly I know that He loves and cares for me. He is also willing and able; even when I’m not.
‘His rod and His staff, they comfort me’. I am His and I am at peace.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (HCSB)
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power, is perfected in weakness.”
Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.
So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Matthew 16:25 (HCSB)
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will find it.
Matthew 16:26 (HCSB)
What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
Note from Kip:
Can you imagine what was running through the heads of those that heard Jesus read this prophecy, then sit down and calmly say what you just heard, I’ve completed that; it’s done!
Not even considering how powerful being in His presence was to begin with, He was a master of communication. The thought that this provoked had to have impacted every single person in ear shot.
Luke 4:18-21 (HCSB)
The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
He then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on Him. He began by saying to them, “Today as you listen, this Scripture has been fulfilled.”
Matthew 11:29-30 (HCSB)
All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
Psalms 27:14 (HCSB)
Wait for the Lord; be strong and courageous. Wait for the Lord.
The Cure for Anxiety
Matthew 6:25 (HCSB)
“This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?”
Ephesians 3:16-21 (HCSB)
I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit, and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us — to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 2:17-18 (HCSB)
When the Messiah came, He proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Luke 12:48 (HCSB)
But the one who did not know and did things deserving of blows will be beaten lightly. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. And even more will be expected of the one who has been entrusted with more.
The God of Comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (HCSB)
Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God
