God’s Power in Christ

He demonstrated this power in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens — far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given,, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.

Note from Kip…
If the Spirit of Christ is not living and working in you, there is something desperately wrong!

God (Jesus) doesn’t seek to establish casual friendships with us.  What He calls us to is an intimate, abiding, growing love that exceeds anything present in this world.

That’s not to trivialize the love of a parent for a child, or a husband and wife. These are important relationships as well, but the supreme relationship, is the with the one who gives you life; not those you give birth to, or were born of. The partnership that is most endearing is the one that occupies your very soul with His Spirit; not the one that we share our lives with here below Heaven.

His love is higher, stronger, more pursuing than any other, because He must be first in our life and our love. That doesn’t squeeze out those other loves; it makes them more full and honest.

It is by this, and His Spirit living in us, acting through us, that we accomplish more than we every imagine possible, or even understand.

It is why a few verses later, Jesus tells us…

If you love Me, you will keep My commands. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.

John 14:15-16 (HCSB)

I delight to do Your will, my God; Your instruction lives within me.

Psalms 40:8 (HCSB)

Who is a God like You, removing iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of His inheritance?
He does not hold on to His anger forever, because He delights in faithful love.

Micah 7:18 (HCSB)

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (HCSB)
