Devotional Passages – 5/18/18

Love One Another!…

I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

John 13:34-35 (HCSB)

Note from Kip…
If I had to use one word to describe God, that word would be love.

Love is the very reason we were created. Love established the first covenant between God and mankind. Love brought a Savior in the baby Jesus Christ, to rescue a lost creation. Love drove Him to the cross where He purchased our forgiveness.

He calls us to Love! Because Love is the greatest of all gifts. We are to love our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are to love our neighbors, so that they may see the Light of our Lord through us. We are to love those that hate us.

No single gift is as powerful as the Love given to us freely, without measure, and without limitation.  Our sole responsibility is to share that love to all.

God is truly Love. We are God’s children and we are to be Love as well.

Blessings,
Kip…

For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints — and you continue to serve them.

Hebrews 6:10 (HCSB)

For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints — and you continue to serve them.

Hebrews 6:10 (HCSB)

But who are you, a mere man, to talk back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?” Or has the potter no right over the clay, to make from the same lump one piece of pottery for honor and another for dishonor? And what if God, desiring to display His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience objects of wrath ready for destruction?

Romans 9:20-22 (HCSB)

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power, is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (HCSB)

But Moses replied to the Lord, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent — either in the past or recently or since You have been speaking to Your servant — because I am slow and hesitant in speech.”,
Yahweh said to him, “Who made the human mouth? Who makes him mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh? Now go! I will help you speak and I will teach you what to say.”

Exodus 4:10-12 (HCSB)

The Lord will fight for you; you must be quiet.

Exodus 14:14 (HCSB)

Note from Kip…
This is the most awesome verse!

I can see myself, yammering on and on; God standing there with that look on His face, wondering when I’m going to settle down enough to listen, enough to pause to consider His plans, enough to allow Him to show me the way, enough to let Him lead me.

I’m sure you do it too. We call it getting “Getting over our skis”, in todays lingo. What it is is getting in front of God. He’s going to fight for you at every turn, we just need to be quiet and let Him!

Blessings,
Kip…

We love because He first loved us.

If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother he has seen cannot love the God he has not seen. And we have this command from Him: The one who loves God must also love his brother.

1 John 4:19-21 (HCSB)

He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:7-8 (HCSB)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-25 (HCSB)
