Devotional Passages – 6/15/18

God Loves Us!…

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Romans 5:5 (NLT)

Note from Kip…
One topic that I always seem to come back to over and over again is this amazing love we are so privileged to have from the one who loved us so to create us, despite knowing full well exactly how much trouble we were.

An all knowing being doesn’t do things by accident. They don’t perform experiments to see what the outcome will be, because they know. We have a hard time grasping this because it’s in our DNA, that we must experience something to come to a full understanding of it more often than not.

Jesus isn’t that way, and we some time don’t see that. Before He spoke the universe into being from absolute nothingness, He felt the pain of separation from God the Father as He died on the Cross for us. He felt the disappointment  in the Garden as the fall of man placed a wedge between Him and that which He was about to make. He also felt the joy of our decision to surrender to Him all that we are and accept His gift of redemption, which He purchased with His life.

For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!

Romans 8:38-39 (HCSB)

All that and more, in a moment, for all eternity; that’s the composition from which His love for us was born and grew into a fierce relentless love for us that He desired to secure for Himself, and for us.

No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13 (HCSB)

I don’t expect to fully understand the depth of His love for us while I tarry here on this earth. I may not be able to understand it when He’s bestowed on me a new body in our home where we’ll spend eternity together. Yes, I will know as even now I am known, but I doubt seriously if that will be enough to comprehend the width, depth, length, mass, and power of the love He harbors for me, you, and all of humanity.

Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (HCSB)

It truly is an inconceivable thing. So much so, that while I stand amazed in His presence, I am only getting a sample of it; of Him who sacrificed all so that all his children could traverse eternity with Him. Just a small speck of that love. So powerful as to alter the course of human destiny from the pit of hell the the thrown of God!

We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.

1 John 3:14 (HCSB)

I was lost, but praise the King that sits on the throne, I am found by the power of Christ’s Love for me, in me and through me!

Yes! Jesus loves me! Yes! Jesus loves you! And we will never understand just how much those three words mean!

2 Corinthians 6:16b-18 (HCSB)

The Lord your God will make you prosper abundantly in all the work of your hands with children, the offspring of your livestock, and your land’s produce. Indeed, the Lord will again delight in your prosperity, as He delighted in that of your fathers, when you obey the Lord your God by keeping His commands and statutes that are written in this book of the law and return to Him with all your heart and all your soul.

Malachi 3:10 (HCSB)

Note from Kip…
It doesn’t matter your age, ability, or history; when God calls you to it, you are to go through it.

It isn’t our power that God is going to use, but His power through us!

I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.

But I protested, “Oh no, Lord, God! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am  only a youth.”

Then the Lord said to me: Do not say, “I am only a youth,” for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak whatever I tell you.

Jeremiah 1:5-7 (HCSB)

And they sang a new song:

You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because You were slaughtered,
and You redeemed people
for God by Your blood
from every tribe and language
and people and nation.

Revelation 5:9 (HCSB)
