Praise God! -6/17/18

Praise God!…

Sing praises to God and to his name! Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds. His name is the Lord— rejoice in his presence! Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy.

Psalm 68:4-5 (NLT)

Note from Kip…
Nothing raises our spirits as much as giving praise and honor to the one who deserves it most, Our Lord!

Speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.

Ephesians 5:19-21 (HCSB)

This has been an awesome weekend for me. Friday and Saturday were the Gridiron Men’s Conference.  The conference had numerous great speakers and sermons, but what was especially impressive was 8,000 of brothers from across the region coming together to raise their voices.

I’m praying that I can sing this morning for the praise team at church, because my voice is in recovery from being taxed to the extreme yesterday and before.

But praise to the Lord shouldn’t be limited to special events, church Sunday morning, or singing in general. No, we are to constantly be offering ups thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. Our demeanor should reflect the joy that is implanted in us constantly.

It doesn’t mean that we are always happy about our circumstances, but the Joy of the Lord traverse past our sorrows, grief and pain. His Joy placed in us, exceeds all and enables us to give praise regardless of our situation.

Therefore, through Him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of our lips that confess His name. Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

Hebrews 13:15-16 (HCSB)

Jesus accomplished the ultimate and complete sacrifice for our sins, but that doesn’t mean that we are not obligated to provide our sacrifices. While what Jesus did for us eliminated  the need for blood sacrifice, other sacrifices remain.

I will offer You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of Yahweh.

Psalms 116:17 (HCSB)

A sacrifice of thanksgiving!  Returning praise and thanksgiving back to the Lord for the Joy and Grace that He pours out on us. As a result of this outpouring we are both enabled and obliged to:

Rejoice always!
Pray constantly.
Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (HCSB)

God in His holy dwelling is a father of the fatherless and a champion of widows.

Psalms 68:5 (HCSB)

For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!

Romans 5:10 (HCSB)

You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor, and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. For He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

Matthew 5:43-45 (HCSB)

The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent His One and Only Son into the world so that we might live through Him.

1 John 4:8-9 (HCSB)

But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!

Romans 5:8 (HCSB)

Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or worthless.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10 (HCSB)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel,, because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.

Romans 1:16 (HCSB)

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28 (HCSB)
