My Birthday Wish – September 7th, 2018

My Birthday Wish!

I want something very special for my birthday this year. You can provide it and it will not cost you a dime.

Let’s unwrap this…

Note from Kip…

Today is my birthday. From my perspective I don’t think I am a complicated person. Some say simple mind – simple pleasures, but nevertheless, we all have things that we want and I do too. So, I thought maybe I would share them with you.

The first one you can’t help me other than possibly making a suggestion or pointing my attention to something. No, this first one I’m going to lay at the feet of my Lord and Savior, also known as The Good Shepherd, and let Him see what He can come up with.

Lord, I would like a job!

Dear Jesus,

It’s only been a few weeks since the job I had evaporated. You know Lord no matter what you provide for me, I’m going to be happy about it. But dear Lord Jesus, if there is a job that serves a ministry for you, that would be a job I would really love to have.

I can think of nothing more exciting or rewarding than for the next step in my career to be in a role that I can serve you central to my vocation as well as in my leisure time.

I know, yes I know, whatever you’d have me do I should do to your glory as if I were doing it for you directly. This bring glory to you as well.

Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24 (CSB)

But Lord Jesus, I have a burning desire to serve you even more!

Could you please bring that about? If you will Lord. Of course, I know you have plans for me and I want to abide in those plans, so whatever your will is I’ll be happy and satisfied that I’m serving you no matter what. But if it could be as part of a ministry for you, that would be awesome!

Oh One Other Thing Lord!

Me again Lord,

I did think of one more thing I would like for my birthday and I’m pretty sure that you want to get this for me as well.

I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking him in his temple.

For he will conceal me in his shelter in the day of adversity; he will hide me under the cover of his tent; he will set me high on a rock.

Then my head will be high above my enemies around me; I will offer sacrifices in his tent with shouts of joy.

I will sing and make music to the Lord.
Lord, hear my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me.
My heart says this about you: “Seek his face.” Lord, I will seek your face. Do not hide your face from me; do not turn your servant away in anger.

You have been my helper; do not leave me or abandon me, God of my salvation. Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me.

Psalms 27:4-10 (CSB)

That would be wonderful!

Now, what do I want from you?

That takes care of what I am asking of the Lord this birthday! But what I would like from you is perhaps even more important to me. It involves these three things. There is no cost from out of your pocket, but this gift is for me and you.

Surrender

Those that know Jesus as Lord and Savior and those that have yet to give their hearts to Him. I wish that you would do that today. If not today, very soon. Sooner is better.

Once you’ve done that, and for all those who have given their lives to Jesus, next I would like to ask you to completely surrender to His will in your life.  Those hold out things that you think are important don’t even come close to the importance of committing everything to Him and making His will in your lives your very top priority.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:1-2 (CSB)

What a transformative change this will be for you and everyone around you. When they see that kindness and compassion that comes from a heart dedicated to God, everyone will be blown away by the changes taking place in you!

And if you don’t know Jesus as your savior and you surrender to Him today, that will make today your birthday as well, because you’ll then be born of His Spirit, and we can celebrate our birthday forever more together!

Be a Disciple of Jesus

You may have heard me mention this a time or two. Giving your life to Jesus is just the beginning. He wants us to follow Him and learn from Him everyday. He’s provided His Word for us to be our guide, but He desires that we follow Him and do what he does. I would love if if you would commit to being His Disciple and learn from the master, doing what He did, follow Him in all your paths, giving him ultimate authority in your life.

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20 (CSB)

Love

Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love — but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (CSB)

The greatest gift is love itself.

It was love that prompted the Creator to create us, our world, the universe. It was love that God the Father sent Him to live among us. It was love that called Him to give Himself for our sins on the cross of Calvary. It was love that he destroyed death forever and vanquished it with His Resurection three day’s later. And it is Love that as a result of that sacrifice He now provides Grace for all humanity, if they will only trust in Him.

He calls us to Love Him and the Father and the Holy Ghost.

He calls us to Love each other as brothers and sisters in His Grace.

He calls us to Love our neighbors as ourselves.

He even calls us to Love our enemies.

You see, God is Love. He doesn’t wish to punish anyone for sin, that’s why He dispatched Jesus to take our place on the cross and bear our punishment for our sins.

The debt is paid. It has been paid with blood and the Love of Christ Jesus!

Because of Love He’s coming for those that love him and are His. To take us home to live in His Glorious Love for all eternity, in newly crafted bodies made with the love of a father to his children.

That’s ‘My Birthday Wish!

Blessings,
kip…
