Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement allow you to live in harmony with one another, according to the command of Christ Jesus, so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with a united mind and voice.
Romans 15:5-6 (HCSB)
Note from Kip…
Unity within the body of Christ isn’t just a good idea. Jesus calls us to it. Not only because of what this does for our fellowship, but it impacts our ability to glorify God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Consider this when disagreements arise between ourselves and other believers in the Church. While we may feel our position is absolutely correct, if we are not willing to impose our view, over the views of others we fail to ‘live in harmony’.
When these take place, consult the Word of God and consider what is supported by the scripture. If there isn’t anything specific then quite likely the issue isn’t really substantive and we need, seek to glorify our Lord rather than prove our point.
He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:7-8 (HCSB)
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity., Amen.
2 Peter 3:18 (HCSB)
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word,, you really are My disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:31-32 (HCSB)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel,, because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16 (HCSB)
The person who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; the person who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Matthew 10:37 (HCSB)
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.
1 Corinthians 1:18 (HCSB)
